The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner is an independent Office with
responsibilities under the federal Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
The Privacy Act gives
you rights in relation to how your personal information
is handled byfederal, ACT and Norfolk Island government
agencies, credit providers and
credit reporting agencies,anyone who holds and uses
your tax file number,
all larege and soiem small businesses, and anyone who requests old minor conviction information about you.
The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner will take your complaint if you
think you
have been affected in respect
of any of the above matters and have already complained
to the agency or business directly.
