The Credit Ombudsman Service is a free and independent external dispute resolution scheme. It provides consumers with an alternative to legal proceedings for resolving disputes with providers operating in the credit marketplace.
The provider must, however, be a member of the Credit Ombudsman Service.
If your mortgage complaint relates to a bank, you should contact the Banking and Financial Services Ombudsman.
Credit products covered by the Credit Ombudsman include redraw facilities, mortgage minimiser products, credit card products, lenders mortgage insurance products, deposit bonds, consumer credit insurances and 'credit management' advice (other than financial product advice that is regulated under the Financial Services Reform Act).
In general, you can make a complaint to the Credit Ombudsman Service if you believe that the provider you have dealt with has:
