            To complain about
          a credit union

Your credit union will most likely be a member of one of the following schemes.

Ask the credit union or ring the schemes to find out.
          • Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS)
          • Credit Ombudsman Service Limited (COSL)

The Credit Union Dispute Resolution Centre has now merged with FOS.

The Financial Co-operative Dispute Resolution Scheme is no longer operating.
Most of its members moved to COSL.

          Codes of Practice
that may help you frame your complaint:

          • The Mutual Banking Code of Practice will help you understand your rights and responsibilities and those of your credit union.

          • The Consumer Credit Code must be followed by all credit providers in Australia.

          • The Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Code of Practice protects you when you're using electronic funds transfer - for example, when you get money out of an ATM, buy goods or services on EFTPOS, do telephone or internet banking, or use your credit card over the phone or internet.
